Rødven Stave Church – a medieval gem

If you're looking for an experience that takes you a thousand years back in time, Rødven Stave Church is a visit you shouldn't miss! Rødven Stave Church is the only stave church in Romsdalen and belongs to the rare Møre type – characterized by distinctive external support beams not found on many other stave churches in Norway. The church is idyllically located by the Rødven Fjord, just 34 kilometers from Åndalsnes, and has a history stretching back to the 1100s. The cross in the church dates from the 1200s and is among the old furnishings. In summer, the stave church is open for visits and guided tours, and cultural walks are also arranged in the surroundings – a fantastic experience for the whole family!

Kylling Bridge and Verma Falls – Hollywood meets Romsdal

Have you seen Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning? Then you know that Kylling Bridge plays an important role in the film – the bridge even gets blown up on screen, but fortunately not for real! Kylling Bridge is a railway bridge carved in stone, 60 meters high measured from the riverbed, and is often called "a tiger's leap in stone." Tom Cruise himself was impressed by the place and spent considerable time riding a motorcycle back and forth on the path under the bridge through the gorge. Right nearby lies the impressive Verma Falls, the largest waterfall in Romsdalen, with a drop height of a full 381 meters from the mountain edge – clearly visible from the road. Take time to stop at the viewpoint down below the shop at Verma, about 40 kilometers from Åndalsnes, and enjoy the view!
